Kate Lawson is the retired food writer from the Detroit News where she wrote a weekly column in Homestyle for both the News and Free Press, as well as a weekly story and column about food trends, recipes, chefs, ingredients and the latest tools for cooking and baking.
Although she considers herself a better cook than she is a baker, she has never met an egg white she doesn’t want to beat.
Is a graduate from Johnson & Wales University (Providence, Rhode Island) studying Pastry Arts. My first job after college was at The Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN. I then moved back to my home sweet home Michigan and worked at Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market. I was the Head Pastry Chef at Peter’s Palate Pleaser in Bloomfield Hills. Currently the Head Pastry Chef at Two Unique Catering.
Tara Grey, of Gus & Grey (Hand Crafted Delights), is quickly becoming a household name in the Metro Detroit area for her line of whimsical named jams/preserves/marmalades/mustards. Gus & Grey is award winning, and has been featured on the Today Show, the Wall Street Journal, as well as all local media/print in Detroit. Prior to becoming a self titled “Jam Pimp”, Tara lived in NYC where she helped many restaurants achieve one & two Michelin stars.
