Doug Dearth
I have been creating illustrations and character designs for clients in the advertising, editorial and publishing markets for over 30 years. My illustrations are first produced with pen and ink or brush then digitally scanned and electronically painted in vibrant colors. Various Photoshop and Illustrator tricks may, or may not be applied to enhance the final design.
Throughout my many past lives I have taught, directed, managed, sculpted, written for many clients/employers including the Detroit News and Wolf Group Studio, Atlanta. Perhaps the most rewarding and fun endeavor was my turn as Managing Editor of Orbit Magazine, a humor-based entertainment tabloid serving the Metro-Detroit area. Deadlines, tight collaboration, cold pizza and laughs make for a great product.

Lois Primeau
I'm an artist, with a degree in illustration from College for Creative Studies but instead of pursuing that, I fell in love with decorative painting and murals. I had a business for many years transforming walls and rooms and furniture into unique works of art for my clients. Having grown antsy of that alone, I expanded my horizons and turned my attention to much smaller works and also back to the figurative work I've always loved. At present, one of my fascinations is toy robots.
Lois Primeau
Robot Rellies (short for Relatives) are gouache ink resist pieces that have recently sprung from my affection for toy robots. Each robot is unique, with the exception of Mildred, who seems to have some issues she keeps pondering. At the moment she tends to be obsessing over her appearance.
Each robot portrait is 10" x 10", framed. The image itself is 4-1/2" x 4-1/2".
Venice Rioux
I am an Artist and Art Educator that teaches in the Rochester Community School District. I love to paint and weave, but I began creating rings out of buttons when I was inspired by a button that I found in the container of buttons in my Mom’s old sewing chair. As a child, I always loved just opening the lid of the old “mints” tin and letting the colors spill out over my hands onto the floor. I would line them all up, play “Button-button, who’s got the button?” and pretend that they were invaluable. Little did I know then, that they were. The buttons became one of those precious memories that my Mom left to me; maybe not-so-much the buttons themselves, but the creativity they instilled in me as a child. The buttons acquired a new life.
Rescued Button
RescuedButton savors unusual and vintage buttons and creates wire wrapped rings using multiple buttons, beads, and pearls. The artist, Venice Rioux, considers each creation an artistic "second-life" for these buttons as together they form a truly unique piece of jewelry. I create the rings by using Sterling Silver Argentium* wire. I can use brass and colored wire for specific rings, but I usually prefer the silver; it’s luster lends to the buttons. Often, I will layer the buttons and let the colors and textures play against each other. Sometimes, I will use just a unique button and add a pearl or bead.

Minna Schwarz-Seim
For me, jewelry-making is an exploration: what can metal do? Bend, flow, stretch, join, shine, wrinkle. What are the possibilities of design? What happens if---I cut here, bend there, connect this and that, add color and texture?
I've been making jewelry for many years,in small families of related yet unique pieces.
Minna Schwarz-Seim

Kimberly Mendelson
I have sewn and loved textiles my whole life. From sales, display and window design, sewing and crafting have always been my passion. I now teach at Clawson Pre School by day and design and create at night. I go from playdough and paint to needle and thread.
One of a Kind Design
I design and make purses from new and used fabrics. Some fabrics are recyled from clothing and upholstery. Embilshments are anything from antique buttons to old zippers, wool, beads and trims. The purses are lined, have a zipper and inside pockets. Each one is uniquely designed so no two are alike.
Katie DiSimone
My passion is working with beads, the colors and array of beads are so endless and beautiful.
I live on Harsens Island and have always enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the Island. Many of my design ideas come from inspiration of colors I see in nature.
Arm Candy by kdesigns
The bracelets I design are most often done in Peyote stitch. I use a variety of seed beads and swarvoski crystals. My designs are original works, and not from a pattern. The highlights of the designs I believe are the clasps from Germany that I use in all of my designs now. They are gorgeous works of art on their own, and enhance all of the bracelets and beads I use in my designs, and makes them a true one of kind piece of art jewelry.
Karen Bredschneider
God has blessed me with a many talents. Some say I have a "compulsive creative" personality. I have been a artist for many years, delving into many different mediums and often combining them or transposing what I have learned in one medium into another. Through the years I have worked in wood, (cabinets and furniture), glass, (stained, leaded and kiln fired work), Painting, Carving, and some jewelry. But my first and constant love has been in fabric. I have sewn since I was 10 years old, everything from Barbie doll clothes to art quilts to upholstered fruniture, tailored suits and wedding gowns. Currently I have been making and selling "one of a kind" mittens, even the right and left hand are not the same.
Karen Bredschneider
My mittens are fully lined with new polar fleece and are very warm. The exterior is a combination of 4-6 different materials. Some of the fabric comes from upholstry samples but mostly from recycled sweaters. The cuffs are made from the ribbing of the sweaters and each cuff is hand sewn onto the mitten. As a finishing touch, in the middle of the cuff is a unique ornament, sometimes a button, stacked buttons, earings, or whatever I create at the moment. Some of the buttons are hand made dicroic glass buttons that I have made in my kiln.
Janna Bissett
Detroit photographer, painter, and jewelry designer, Janna Bissett, is a classically trained artist with a BFA in Photography from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She started out at Western Michigan University in the Graphic Design program before taking her first photography class and realizing that she has always viewed the world as if through a photo lens. She switched majors and also universities. “I can remember as a child looking at parts of my room and closing one eye and playing around with focus. I would switch back and forth between the foreground and background. I never had a good camera growing up, just a simple point and shoot film camera, and I used to get frustrated with not being able to focus where I wanted to. When I got my first SLR camera it’s almost as if the world just opened up to me. I’ve always been such a visual person and for the first time I could capture what I was seeing and share it with others. I love to experiment and break rules. And with digital I find it is easier to do that. It goes hand in hand with my subject matter as well.” Her urban photography often concentrates on the “dirty” or discarded, turning it into something interesting and often quite beautiful. “Honestly I think I bore easily. I like to see things in fresh and new ways and I try to do that in both my photography and my metalwork. I like to keep things unexpected such as turning something industrial into delicate.”
Lilacpop
I create one of a kind jewelry made from vintage machine parts by soldering them together and often combining them with delicate items such as swarovski crystals. I like to take industrial things and make them look delicate. I do the same with my photography. I print all my photos on metallic paper.

Gail McGuire
I travel around the country photographing, then drawing different lighthouses. My note cards are currently being shown in different museum shops and galleries throughout the country.
My love of drawing started as a child with my father being an artist, as well. My drawings have evolved over the past 30 years, from graphite to colored pencils and pastels.
I am a longtime member of the Michigan Association of Calligraphers, the Great Lakes Pastel Society, and the Colored Pencil Sociaty of America.
Gail’s Lighthouse Cards
My hand illustrated lighthouse drawings were originally done in colored pencils and then reproduced onto note cards. I have boxed assortments of Michigan, Florida, Carolina, and Oregon lighthouse note cards. I also have fine art prints.
I have an assortment of handmade books which I make from either hand made paper or hand painted paper. I also make my own hand marbled paper that I use on my books.
Doug Spalding
I am the sole creator of the plates, buildings, figures and tiles. I particularly enjoy making my sgraffito work. They are made by applying a colored slip on the surface of the wet clay. After the piece has dried to a leather hard consistency I carve or scratch the slip off revealing the white clay body underneath. This is very much the same process as woodblock printing or linocut. The only difference is my process only results in one piece.
In my over 25 years of prodding clay to do my bidding I have gone in many directions in my work. But there has been one constant... fun. Whether its tiles, buildings, figures or plates, I have always had my eye towards humor. I am proud that the buying public has supported this for all these years. The sound of laughter in my booth is always welcome.
Spalding Studio
I work in clay. I make robots in tiles, plates, vases, mugs, tumblers and anything else I can think of. I am not limited to robots. I make the above items with other subjects.

I have been creative my whole life and am currently working with a variety of materials to create quality jewelry. Some components are new, while others are vintage pieces re-purposed. Ann Green
I am a 56 yer old bead artiste. I have been beading since I was a kid. Due to a debilitating accident I have taken my hobby to a whole new level as I needed to stay creative and make a little extra cash. I have made quite a few of my own designs and patterns and I've used others patterns also in some of my creations. I try to make each piece of wearable art unique and many have designs on both sides of my amulet bags so you get two for the price of one. My hand made jewelry is mostly semi-precious stones and mainly precious metals. If you don't see what you want, ask, I can probably make it to your taste.
Ann Green
My amulet bags are small decorative purses which many have designs on both sides. They are made with delica glass beads and gems I find all over the map. They can be worn around your neck or used as art in your home. Most of my jewelry is made using tiger wire cble and semi~precious stones are used as well as precious metals. Some of the amulet bags are my own designs but all of my other jewelry is of my own design. I attempt to create a product that you will not find someone else wearing. I specialize in one of a kinds.
Julie Race
I have been crafting, sewing and creating all my life. Sewing is my current creative outlet - crafting old clothing into new beautiful, one-of-a-kind, jackets, accessories and decorative items.

Marty Merrill
Fine arts have always been a major influence and part my life. Professionally, I am a graphic artist. My commercial training was at Cass Tech and my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is from Wayne State University. I was a painting major.
I have been making jewelry for several years now and can’t turn it off. It keeps me awake at night.
My designs are based on several criteria: color; composition; similarities and/or differences between materials; textures; and balance whether, symetrical or assymetrical. I like to play up the organic qualities of the stones and other natural materials I often use. And, I am always trying new ideas so there is a lot of variety in my work.
The Jewelry Cottage
All of the materials I use are nickel and lead free and my jewelry is always comfortable to wear. The silver you see in my work is either sterling silver or silver-plated pewter made in the US. My copper, brass and pewter is also made in the USA. The gold I use is 14k gold-filled, offering affordability.
I like semi-precious stones, lampwork and ceramic beads, fused glass, fresh water pearls, shell and wood. Murano glass from Italy is also a favorite because of it’s richness, color and quality along with handmade Kazuri beads from Africa. As focal points, these types of beads are like small free-standing paintings. My intent is to make jewelry with a strong sense of design that makes an artistic statement. The customer should feel they are wearing art that reflects their style.
Mardi Chapman
I have been painting for forty years in various media, mostly oil paint on canvas in the styles of the Impressionists and Old Masters. Four years ago, I discovered a computer program, Corel Painter, which allows me to duplicate the effects and look of my oil paintings using the computer and a tablet and pen. This approach appeals to me in that it requires no toxic materials and can be done anywhere I can use my laptop. Clean up is a breeze! The painting techniques I learned to paint portraits, landscapes and still life can be achieved electronically, and the output from my printers, or from a service bureau for larger paintings, is of a very high quality. I usually apply some acrylic paint to the canvas output, to create texture.

These are hand "painted" silk scarves, using dye rather than paint. This provides for permanent colors. I create original designs, and hand apply them to the scarves with a synthetic wax, which encloses color areas in the design. Because the dyes and wax are hand applied, no two scarves are exactly alike.

Yvonne Massenberg
My name is Yvonne Massenberg and I do machine embroideries for the home, spa and baby. I have always loved pretty things-- things with lace and scalloped edges. I have always loved things personalized, monogrammed bed linens, bath towels, kitchen towels, table linens, I think they add to the ambiance of a room. And even though I love the fomality of a well set table, I also appreciate the whimsy of linens bearing designs that spark conversation and grace an informal meal among friends. I think long and hard about my embroideries before i create them, and I anticipate the response of their recipients. I love to see people feel the depth of my designs when they're presented on a backdrop of a linen towel, napkin, or plush terry. And even more so, I love the way they look within the home. I enjoy what I do, and I enjoy the many compliments that I get when people experience my work.
It’s Only Squash
My embroideries are inspired of a bygone era, when dining was accompanied by a set table, when families ate together and actually engaged in conversation. And when night fell, one could find comfort and relaxation in the intimate retreat of a well-dressed bedroom. A place where bed linens and rose water linen sprays inspired dreams, healing, love and refreshment for the soul. I try to show this in my kitchen towels, linen napkins, bath towel ensembles, and guest towels . I use a canvas of 100% Egyptian Cottons, Fine Cotton Linen with cotton crocheted edgings, plush Terry Bath Towels, and more. I want my customers to feel pampered in every item that I present to them.

My festive ceramic pieces are a result of my love of life.
Everywhere I go I see a quote, color, or pattern that I want to use in my own artwork. Originally a watercolor painter, I have found that my creative heart also loves making ceramic dishes, vases and charms to place all over my house. I like placing my earrings, change, shell collections and tea lights in my whimsical dishes to remind me that life is a huge blessing. I hope you see this in my work as well.
SooMee Lee
Each whimsical dish is hand made by me. I glaze each piece and fire it in a kiln at 1900 degrees. My glaze is food safe, dishwasher safe, and microwave safe. So feel free to interchange dishes for candy or candles.
My charms are meant to inspire you. I hang them from my ficus tree at home or place them in little nooks and crannies too small to hold large art pieces. They're delightful for yourself or friends and at a touch of color to an already beautiful home.

As a former kindergarten teacher, I have always experimented with unusual art forms. I started with tole painting and moved on to knitting and felting handbags. That led to felting old wool sweaters and creating unusual handbags (still an interest)...and to my latest passion. I love to use "found" treasures to make pins....especially feathers, but also vintage buttons, scraps of lace, beads, yarn...the list is endless. I hope you enjoy seeing my craft as much as I enjoy making these pins.

What started as a fun project has turned into my own little creative business. I love looking for new products to work with, new looks, and keeping things fresh. I currently work as a Recycling Coordinator in Southfield, and am working on my Masters/Teaching Certificate at Wayne. I have two kids (age 2 and 4) and in my spare time (yeah, right) I put all of my creative energy into my jewelry and crafts.
I specialize in glass tile jewelry and magnets, using different sizes and textures of glass to get the right look. I have started making earrings to coordinate with the necklaces, and bracelets and rings aren't far behind. I make scrabble tile style necklaces, which are cute and at a lower price point. I also make pendants with a silver bezel, and dabble in bottlecap magnets (those are popular with the younger crowd).
Glassology
Pretty yellow flowers with just a touch of glitter sit on a light blue background. Delicate earrings measure 12mm and are topped with a glass dome. The necklace is a 1" silver pendant hanging on a silver-plated 18" snake chain.
Terry Kobleck
I am a self taught artist who started making jewelry because I could never find necklaces and bracelets that were just the right length or had just the right look for me. My friends started to ask me to make peices for them, and from there I began to sell to the public. My cats came about because I am addicted to resale shopping and became interested in felting. Those two pursuits combined to result in an abundance of wool sweaters which turned into stuffed cats. I have participated in 3 artist's markets at Leon & Lulu's, shown at the Royal Oak winter artist's market, and The Grosse Pointe Art Gallery holiday show. I have also been featured in the Free Press on Joycelyn Brown's Handmade page.
